I thank you sincerely for your extremely kind letter & am glad to hear of the important post, as I suppose, to which you have been appointed.—1
I would gladly have asked you to come down here, though it is not likely that you could have spared the time, but we all leave home tomorrow morning for a visit of between 2 & 3 weeks to my married & eldest son.2
